It is with heavy heart that I must report the passing of our good friend, Storymaster69. SM had been battling cancer, and was in hospice care. As happens too often, the cancer unfortunately won the battle.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Luna, in this time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
Eric Storm

Always sad to see someone die from cancer as most of the treatments vectors used do more harm than good. A life lost to cancer is a life that didn't need to be lost.

How many lives actually "need" to be lost?
Everyone has to die somehow. Most methods aren't very pleasant.

I guess my phrasing was not quite what I intended there. Probably would have been better to say that a life lost to cancer is a life that could have been saved.

Well, if you know of some great way to defeat cancer, don't keep it to yourself. Right now, the only method we have is to try to kill the cancer a little bit faster than we're killing the patient. Yes, it sucks, but it's all we've got for now.

There is cellular starvation. Cancer cells cannot process the chemical energy the body releases to support cellular function when starving. They thrive on sugars, and the iv nutrition used for patients unable to keep food down is glucose rich. Rather than killing the body with radiation, intermittent fasting with a severely restricted diet for when eating is allowed can be very effective. I know of a veteran that lived through stage 4 bone cancer with this method.

Okay, but that is an EMERGING treatment. Meaning they haven't "worked all the bugs out" yet. So are we supposed to just sit back and wait until they've got that worked out?
Look, my mother went through both chemo and radiation when she got cancer. And ultimately, no, it didn't work out. But it was the best option available. And, as far as I know, for "mature" treatment options, they still are.

Cellular starvation is a decades old treatment. It is often overlooked however since it's creators were a part of the third reich.

and we all know how that treatment came about, dont we
