Okay, it's annoying me that I cannot remember this, so I'm wondering if any of you know the book series I'm talking about.
* It's a children's book series, figure for Jr. High readers at oldest. Probably intended for younger.
*It was about a group of kids who had formed a detective agency. (No it is NOT the Hardy Boys. I have never read a Hardy Boys mystery in my life.)
*I believe there were three kids in the group, but I could be wrong on that.
*Perhaps a defining feature of the series is that, when the group needed information, they had a system whereby they would ask the entire neighborhood of kids to help them. I don't remember what they called this, but the system had a name.
* The books were fairly short.
* I seem to remember the group was referred to as "..... Detective Agency". (Big revelation there, eh?) The word "Downtown" also seems to resonate, but I don't know how. It could also have been "Three......Detective Agency". I just don't know for sure. If I could remember THIS, I'd have the series.
So. Vague as all that is... anyone have any clue what I'm talking about?

Yes! It was The Three Investigators. I saw this name mentioned, but the connection to Alfred Hitchcock threw me, as the books I read did not mention him, but Hector Sebastian instead.
Thanks!

I *loved* that series as a kid. I knew exactly which you were talking about as soon as I read the description
