You know, I don't want to sound like a prophet, or even a pundit, but I told my college friends in the early '90's that the Russian Bear wasn't dead, he was only hibernating. I just somehow knew that Russia wasn't going to be able to make a go of democracy, and that communism - or something even worse - would return to rule that country, and that they would be a danger once again.
Certainly, I'd like to see Russia succeed as a democracy and be a partner and friendly competitor to the United States... but I just don't see that has much of a chance of happening, with the course of events what they are.
