The Speed Of Light

Apparently the speed of light need not be constant.

Anybody else care to speculate on the future possibilities?

Re: The Speed Of Light

It has been known for a long time that the speed of light changes depending on the medium (glass, air, water) - that's what causes refraction! (see definition if you don't believe me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refraction)

However, back to your question: This is such a fundamental piece of research that it's hard to know what the eventual fallout will be. It has some interesting potential in optical computing though.
