The only thing I can think of comparable was a story that ran in local news a few years back. A pastor dies of auto-erotic asphyxiation, wearing a wetsuit and such. The church asked the local government to just leave it be...but after a bit of snooping, it was rather obvious that this was not self inflicted.
Sounds like the hooker bailed on him.
