I've recently discovered a couple of brilliant pieces of software that have been a tremendous help in getting me back on track with my writing.
The first is a "Mind Map" type of thing that's really helpful for planning and mapping out stories, chapters or even scenes

The second is called yWriter3. This allows you to break your work down in to bite sized chunks, name every chapter, every scene, profile your characters etc. It gives you the option to see what point of view you are writing from, word counts per character and a whole bunch of other stuff.
One of the greatest things about this software is that with just a little work (putting in some asterisks) you can import everything you have written so far and it will do the same for all that stuff you wrote in MS Word or whatever
It has been written by a published author who just happens to be a software writer as well.
