Re: Winter's Blade

Just posted "pitch", and a tiny fix or two to "fire."

And yes, I really have been up all night finishing the latest chapter.

Re: Winter's Blade

heheeh ok I am making sure to post immediately after reading lobby because....somebody gets cranky when I don't feed their addiction... 3dbig_smile

ok lets keep it simple...I loved it  the chemistry between CENSORED BY IMAGINEER and Em... the CENSORED BY IMAGINEERhell.. Em having a CENSORED BY IMAGINEER giving herself a CENSORED BY IMAGINEER...oh wait that sucked...no CENSORED BY IMAGINEER for the Winter lady... that would ruin the story..

so did you use the 12 pack of Dr. Peppers and the package of No-Doze wisely?  Or did you take them all at once and freak outyour neighbors 3dbig_smile

I was a baaaaaad boy....and I got 'panked   3dbig_smile

Re: Winter's Blade

I just read the story up through 'lobby' and all I can say is "Excellent job" I can't wait to read more.  The story is wonderfully told.

Re: Winter's Blade

Thanks to everyone for the great feedback. The final chapters are coming together, and it looks like this story about the Winter Solstice will be completed before the Vernal Equinox is upon us. (That means as long as it's finished within the next three weeks, it can still be considered story posted in Winter and thus not late.)

I hope the ending lives up to expectations... but whether it does or not, I hope everyone will drop me a line to tell me what they especially liked or didn't like so much, so that I can learn from the experience. And if you have any questions about CENSORED FOR DV8N or anything else about the story, or you just want to share your thoughts about specific things, feel free to add to the Spoilers thread or to create a new one.

Re: Winter's Blade

The next story post will be two chapters, and with that Winter's Blade will be complete.

Re: Winter's Blade

At the risk of premature enumeration of domesticated fowl, I am posting edited versions of all of the existing chapters (just spelling and grammar fixes) in preparation for the two-part conclusion. The first part of the conclusion will be posted tonight, the second before week's end.

Re: Winter's Blade

The story is now officially Completed.
Close to the winter solstice, even.
Okay, close to the wrong winter solstice -- notice this year it was almost a full moon? -- but a nice year-end treat for me anyway.

Re: Winter's Blade

I've read a couple of your stories and love them both. I think what I like best though is that you actually finish them! You seem to be in the minority there from the rest that I've read here. Keep up the great work!

Re: Winter's Blade

No, I had given up DrPepper early in the year. Without it, what little I could manage to write sounded like it'd come from an eight-year-old suffering Ritalin withdrawal.

A couple of weeks ago I fell off the wagon. Twelve packs were on sale, and I needed it...

I feel bad about leaving a story hanging so long. I'll try not to let that happen again.

But I have to say, a commitment to finish whatever story you start can make it very hard to start, especially knowing the way a story tends to get larger as it's developed. Writing is 2% inspiration, 98% concentration on putting words together to make sentences for hours and hours even if you have a million other things vying for your attention. Or something. It's work, like painting a house -- it's fun to pick the colors, and the part you can do with a roller goes really fast and easy, but then there's masking and window trim and eaves and gutters and cleanup and it seems like you're never going to finish, and you keep finding spots you missed, and the color in one of the cans doesn't quite match, and then your neighbor hires guys who paint his house almost the same damn color over a single weekend... and when you do finish, your buddy comes over and says "wow, great job -- hey, the game's on."

Re: Winter's Blade

Hey Imagineer,

Sorry it took so long for me to finish your story.  I really enjoyed it and found it had just the right mix of originality and classic story elements woven seamlessly together.  Thank you for sharing your vision with us all and I look forward to seeing what you come up with to entertain us next.

Re: Winter's Blade

To be honest I was hoping this was a sequel to cruel summer(because of the name). Even though that was a slight disappointment to me it did not in the least bit keep me from thoroughly enjoying this story. Great job. Look forward to reading more of your works.

Re: Winter's Blade

WOW, very nice, a good action story, with just the right amount of humor to lighten it it, the action was very well done, as was the entire story.  again, very nice.

Re: Winter's Blade

Just thought I'd put in my two cents worth and let you know I totally enjoyed Winter's Blade. So now you have gathered in another fan to satisfy. That means you must keep writing, writing, writing.

I hope I'm not making what you do seem like um, ah, (clearing throat) work, but we fans do have our expectations, you know.

Thanks for all the kind words. I'd like to do a sequel, but I've not yet come up with a story that works well enough for me.
