Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

Assuming I remember most of what happened in the last chapter with Joe, why couldn’t David do exactly what he did in the field, only sooner and while Joe escaped on his own? It obviously wasn’t a problem for David to do this as well, it would have been well within his orders as a superior to force the guy below him to follow orders by telling him to escape. It sucks cause Joe was my favorite character out of the story.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

It would have been a technical violation of his orders, which were to keep Garibaldi with him.  If David's orders allowed the two to separate, David could simply have ordered Joe not to accompany him in the first place.

Not to mention that the weres would not have stopped and targeted him solely; they likely would have split half and half, or, in fact, might have detailed just a few to attack and kill David (remember, they didn't know that wasn't possible), while the rest continued after Joe.  David would not have been able to kill them all fast enough to prevent what happened from happening, just in a different way.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

Thinking ahead, I'm wondering about Ghost Joe's presence in David, Zyla and Grace's life. Will he hang around the house? Help David with his war efforts? Become David's immortal sidekick/smart-ass-Jiminy-Cricket?

This is something that hasn't been throughly explained - what happens after someone dies? Gabriel tells Davd she'll 'take care of him now' but what does that entail - a session with the Ghost HR department? Ghost indoctrination seminar? Lessons on how to act as a ghost? And how soon before Joe can start haunting Dean Lengel?

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

It is tradition that ghosts do NOT hang around those they knew while alive.  It wouldn't do Joe OR Zyla any good for him to hang around the family.  It would be emotionally damaging for all involved.

And when someone dies... they die.  The banshees are there to help make the crossing into Haven less chaotic and emotionally unpleasant.  Their job takes a couple minutes for each person.  There is no ruling council for ghosts, no rules they need to learn to abide by.  The only danger to ghosts for any behavior is that a ghost wizard might "teach them a lesson", or a demighost might be called in to deal with them from the "living" side.

Joe could have started haunting Dean Lengel immediately, but it is unlikely that Joe would want to spend his afterlife in a place he found emotionally uncomfortable during life.

i don't expect any confirmation on these, but I want to have my predictions for year 8 written down before it gets released 3dsmile

1. The 'Main Woman' for David will be Zuma
2. Giendia and the other centaurs will make an appearance and their archery will play a pivotal role in at least one battle

I was almost ready to start re-reading, but I remembered that, as of the temple visits, she had her to appear in the story.

After further thought - not thinking about it, and don't try to figure out how my mind works - I figured that he was referring to Zyla since Joe is no longer in the picture.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

I had assumed he was talking about Zyla, as people usually tend to get first letters of names correct, and she's the only Z character in the series.

But she's still not named Zuma.

Yes Zyla... I do love autocorrect. It tried to change it on this post too!!! -_-

Sometimes technology isn't quite as helpful as you hope.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

Historically, Eric has released a chapter from prm status when he posts a new chapter in the series.  Since Eric has been going through a bit of a dry spell in his writing, we all have to wait.  3dsad

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

Barbarian is correct.  I don't consider it fair to those who've received special access to release any additional chapters until there's a new chapter for them to read.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

If you are referring to the next chapter of WAY7, it will be made public when the next chapter of WAY8 is released to PRM.  This is my policy for this series.

if you're asking when the next chapter of WAY8 will be released, the answer is: When I finish it.

I almost want to count up the instances of the word "a" and give it here as a spoiler. Almost.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

You keep getting asked 'when is the next chapter' in various ways.
So telling thoes whom are not part of prm that there are 360 or so words that consist of only the letter "a" is a spoiler for the next chapter, just a useless one.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

Um... no, it's not.  And here's why:  By definition, a "spoiler" must "spoil" the story (or at least the suspense or anticipation) for someone else.  I'm pretty sure that this particular piece of trivia will not affect anyone's enjoyment of the story whatsoever.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

Perhaps, unless someones only enjoyment of any given peice of written work comes from counting the instances of specific words in a document and making histrograms... but your likely correct in that I didn't spoil anything.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 7, The

Great chapter. There were some things that had me slightly confused. How was Dailey's ghost prevention wall able to block David when he wasn't in ghost form. If the wall blocks solid and ghosted things, why did it allow his staff to pass through. Secondly, how was David able to conjure himself when a conjuring prevention field was in place? Was Daily forced to end the field because of starting the ritual or was David able to thwart the field somehow?

It been a little bit since I read that chapter but for the anti conjuring field I believe that was only in place around Daily’s work table
