Geopolitics of the United States Part 1: The Inevitable Empire.
This article is EXTREMELY long but very interesting, it's got some politics but mostly it's a geography and history lesson. It's only part 1, part 2 isn't posted yet. Due to it's length and the maps that are available on the site, I won't post the article here, just the link. If you're interested in a good explanation of why the US has succeeded, grown and become so powerful in the world today, this article gives a pretty good idea. It all makes so much sense.
