CAMP in hardcover?

I'd pay $40. Not sure I'd go higher even for autographed books. Postage would consume more money.
But $40 for the book itself, yes.

Thats definite.

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

Well, as you can see, so far three people have said yes.  I think two others have said yes outside this forum.  That's 5.  I need rather more than that to make it profitable.

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

I would buy a copy and would be willing to pay about $40.
Just out of curiosity how many buyers would you need at what cost to make any money? or at least break even?

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

I need at least 25 definite sales before it becomes feasible.

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

1. & 2. Chances are I would use PayPal, the same way I did for my CD's.  If enough people objected to that, I might get a PO Box to get checks as well, but the checks would have to clear before shipping.

3. This would probably be determined by the actual shipping cost.  Since I don't have a book in hand, I can't get a cost from the PO, so I can't tell you.

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

Development.

It's already 315,000 words long.  Just how much "development" do you want?

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

sounds good, I would love to see something like that. it is, after all, a novel, and it should be treated as such. I would probably put something like 40 into it.

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

Glad I signed up on the boards when I did. I'll put my vote in for buying one. I might be willing to pay upwards of US$50 for one if the binding is well done, and it is signed. It would be great if it got a good sleeve cover too, but I don't know who you would get to do the artwork, or even what the artwork for a sleeve cover would entail.

I imagine just reformatting it to fit to the confines of conventional print would be a task in and of itself.

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

I'm quite capable of doing the cover art myself, thank you very much.  And formatting for print really is not that hard, it's just a matter of setting page size and margins.

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

Apologies, I did not mean to imply you couldn't. I've known several folks who have gotten very hung up in their personal publishing projects over details like that though, so I was more of wondering aloud. True, it is more of page size and margins work, however their is also choice of font, section and chapter divisions and whatelse not. I'm sure you have it covered though.

Re: CAMP in hardcover?

Unfortunately, that would be considered an entire other run of books, which would cost as much as the first run did to print (since setup and everything would have to be redone.)  Unless I got enough people who needed large-print (and given the length, the book would have to come in volumes, thus upping the cost even further...) it's just not cost effective.  Sorry.
